Strictly Come Dancing 2021, week 10 recap: John Whaite tangos to top, Tilly Ramsay sambas to bottom

Musical Week is over for another year. The remaining half-dozen contestants are bidding to get through to the quarter-final next week. There was a change of judges on the judging panel.

John Whaite and Jojo performed Argentine tango to Beethoven's Fifth on Strictly Come Dancing. It was their first performance on the show and they got 39 points. Mary Berry congratulated them. The episode was broadcast on BBC1. St.rictl Come dancing 2021 is on in December. Tilly Ramsay was eliminated. She was paired with Toni Gavriel. They were paired in week three's Movie Week.

AJ Odudu has been on Strictly Come Dancing recently. She has had a few ups and downs recently, but she deserves more points for her Couple's Choice freestyle with pro partner Kai Widdrington. She finished second on the scoreboard with 36 points. Shirley Ballas called it the ultimate performance.

Dan Walker has been on a steady rise in the Strictly. He broke the 30-point barrier with last week's Charleston. His rumba routine to Desperado by the Eagles was a surprise. Nadiya Bychkova is his partner. He's been the bookies' favourite for elimination every weekend for the past month. Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood are relieved it wasn't an absolute dance dis-ah-ster.

Rhys Stephenson wowed the judges with his waltz to Whitney Houston. He finished third on the leaderboard with 35 points. He is a double dance-off survivor. The public vote will decide if he stays in the top two or goes to the bottom two.

Craig was off his sickbed and Cynthia returned. Motsi Mabuse couldn't travel back from Germany. Cynthia impressed once again with her supportive critiques and sensible scoring. Craig made up for lost time with some typically acidic comments. He was booed for booing for giving six and seven scores. He also gave six scores when others were doling out nines and 10s.

Tilly Ramsay and her partner Nikita Kuzmin failed to score a perfect 40 on the samba. Tilly's father Gordon Ramsay was in the studio audience. He might be giving his daughter a lift home. He's worried she might vomit alcopops over his upholstery.

This week's Strictly Come Dancing was at its crowd-pleasing, nation-uniting best. There are six couples left. The show was snappily paced at just over an hour long. Music choices were pleasingly eclectic.
