Sunday Moe and Ballarat tips: $23 value bet

Sunday's Victorian races are at Ballarat and Moe and there will be plenty of attention on the Grand National Steeplechase where super jumper Stern Idol will be an odds on favourite.

BALLARAT

RIDER IN THE SNOW (Race 3 No. 6 – $4.80)

Rider In The Snow turned in a better effort at his second jumps run this season and will be much fitter for the Ballarat test. He'll be hard to beat.

VANGUARD (Race 6 No. 4 – $23)

Stern Idol will be tough to toss but Vanguard will be a lot fitter for his Crisp Steeple second placing, which was his first jumps run since May. Back him each-way at the good odds.

MOE

HOOFS DON'T LIE (Race 1 No. 2 – $2.20)

Hoofs Don't Lie is a short-priced favourite but looks set to get punters off to a flyer at Moe. His two runs last time in were terrific and his Flemington jumpouts have been promising.

BOB THE HORSE (Race 5 No. 2 – $4.20)

Bob The Horse has shown ability in several runs before his belated breakthrough win at Pakenham. He's back to the turf but could go on with it now.

DE LA ROCHA (Race 7 No. 1 – $2.40)

De La Rocha broke his maiden when running on hard to score at Geelong, funnily enough, he might find this assignment easier from barrier one. He can win again.
