Suns vs. Mavericks odds, props, predictions: Target player points OVERs in star-studded matchup

NBA action returns tonight after the All-Star break, and the Suns at Mavericks highlight a packed schedule in the association.

Before the break, the Suns won five of their last six games, and the Mavs were on a six-game win streak. Luka Doncic is listed as questionable with a broken nose, but he is expected to play. The Suns may be without Bradley Beal yet again due to a hamstring injury, but Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are expected to play.

That sets up four, 25-plus point per game scorers to take center stage in what should be an exciting night of NBA contests. No one in the league is as hot as Doncic and Kyrie Irving, who have the Mavs rolling now.

Considering both teams are in the middle of the pack or worse in points allowed per game, this isn’t a matchup fans will want to miss.

The total is the second highest on the market tonight, and the spread is competitive. If you’re looking for betting action, the market doesn’t get much better than this one. Before tip-off, check below for the live odds for the game and additional betting information, including player props.

Suns vs. Mavs odds: point spread, moneyline, and total

Here are the latest NBA betting odds for tonight’s game at the top sportsbooks:

Suns betting news: Beal’s presence desperately needed to keep pace

The Suns are 15-3 in their last 18 games, which includes a win against Dallas. During that stretch, they have averaged a whopping 122 points per game – five points above their current season average.

However, they may be without Beal tonight, and they are far less effective without his firepower. This season, they have a 14-11 record without Beal on the court.

Their big three are responsible for the bulk of their offense. Between Beal’s offensive production and their struggling defense, they are much more vulnerable when they are not fully healthy. That could play a significant role in tonight’s matchup given that Dallas is a top-10 scoring offense in the league.

After Beal, Durant, and Booker, the Suns don’t have many who fill it up consistently, which makes them much easier to defend.

Mavs betting news: Recent trades paying dividends

The Mavs currently allow 117 points per contest (19th in the league). One of the biggest reasons for their high season average is lack of front court depth for the bulk of the season. They allow 53 points in the paint per contest (22nd in the league), which makes it difficult to stop opposing teams. To address the issue, the Mavs acquired both PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline.

The additions have paid off significantly for their defense, although the sample size has been small. In the three games since the arrival of their newly acquired big men, they have gone 3-0 and haven’t allowed more than 111 points in a contest.

Both forwards are getting 20-plus minutes per contest and are making the best of it. Gafford is averaging 15 points and 12 boards as a Mav. Washington hasn’t been as impactful offensively as he looks for his groove, but his defense has certainly been felt.

The new pieces to the puzzle are helping to turn around the Mavs’ biggest weakness and make them much more of a threat. How they perform against Durant, Booker and company will tell the NBA world a lot about just how far they can go this year.

Suns vs. Mavs player props picks

Booker vs. Doncic has become a premier matchup in the league, as it brings the best of both their competitive streaks to the forefront for fans to see. Although the respect is there, they have a no love lost approach to their battle on the court.

With competitiveness like that on the schedule tonight, the player prop market is a must. Check out the best options we found on BetMGM sportsbook.

Suns vs. Mavs prediction ATS

The Mavs’ offense can keep pace with the Suns even if they were at full strength. Without Beal, they stand an even better chance. Additionally, the new pieces give the Mavs weapons to throw at Durant and Booker to make things more challenging for them. That will help them cover the spread tonight.
