TCU Edges Oklahoma State in Big 12 Baseball Preseason Poll

The Big 12 baseball preseason poll was released on Thursday, and we now have a favorite to win the Big 12 Championship: the TCU Horned Frogs.

This is the first time since 2017 that the Horned Frogs were selected as the preseason favorite to win the league. TCU won the 2022 Big 12 baseball regular season title, becoming the first team to go back-to-back since 2016-17. The Horned Frogs posted a 16-8 record to win the title outright, and clinch their fourth trophy since 2015.

TCU (61) edged out Oklahoma State (59) by two points, and just one first-place vote, to nab the top spot in the poll. According to the Big 12 press release, this was the fourth time in Big 12 history that two-or-fewer points in the voting separated the top two finishers, with TCU accumulating 61 to OSU’s 59.

Texas Tech (48) was picked to finish third in the conference, while 2022 College World Series participant Texas (38) was picked to finish. Oklahoma (38), who finished as the national runner-up a season ago, was picked to finish fifth while West Virginia (28) was sixth, followed by Kansas State (17). Kansas (16) and Baylor (14) rounded out the poll, as both teams enter the season under new head coaches Dan Fitzgerald (Kansas) and Mitch Thompson (Baylor).

Here’s a quick look at the poll in its entirety.
