The Best NFL Stadiums for Foodies

While many sports fans still enjoy the classic hot dog and beer combo, stadium food has evolved over the years with giant foodies now even potentially being persuaded to attend a game purely because of what’s on the menu rather than who’s playing.

To find out the best NFL stadiums for foodies, we’ve created an index ranking each venue based on four different factors: the number of concessions per square foot, the number of concessions per stadium capacity, the price of a beer, and the price of a hot dog.

Which are the Best NFL Stadiums for Foodies?

Fans of the Atlanta Falcons who attend games at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium are certainly lucky, as the stadium tops our index with an impressive score of 7.71. Not only does this stadium offer the cheapest beer at $5, but it also has the lowest price for hot dogs too (costing just $2), meaning you can enjoy your food and drink for less than 10 bucks — a football fan’s dream. Other than the “fan first” menu with its seriously affordable prices, foodies might want to try out a lobster roll; although this will cost more than your standard hot dog.

While they had another disappointing season — and fired another head coach — supporters of the Houston Texans will be pleased to know NRG Stadium takes second spot in our index, scoring 7.67. NRG Stadium ranks fourth for the cost of beer, with fans able to grab one for $6, and eighth for a hot dog ($5.25), although many fans might be eager to enjoy some authentic brisket.

Following closely behind in third is Empower Field at Mile High, the home turf of the Denver Broncos. Fans of the Broncos will be very familiar with the ease of grabbing something to eat and drink, with the venue boasting the highest rate of concession stands at one concession per 445 fans.

Popular choices for foodies going to a Broncos game include a trip to the Denver BBQ chain, GQue BBQ, and Denver Cheesesteak.

Opening in 2020, the Las Vegas Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium is well-equipped for foodies, with the cost of a classic hot dog coming in at just $3, the second cheapest of all venues, and well below the other NFL stadiums. While at Allegiant Stadium, you might want to check out Guy Fieri’s Tailgate, or for a sweet treat you can try the Silver & Black Thundercup from Sweet & Boozy.

Taking the final spot in our top five is Lucas Oil Stadium where you’ll find the Indianapolis Colts. With one concession stand per 519 people, the fifth lowest of all NFL stadiums, Colts fans won’t have to wait too long to be able to get a $5.75 hot dog and $8 beer. Although you’re not limited at Lucas Oil Stadium, with options like Budweiser-infused braised brats and mac & cheese bites on the menu.

How Does the Super Bowl Stadium Compare?

This year, the Super Bowl is being held at State Farm Stadium, typically the home of the Arizona Cardinals. While this stadium just missed out on a top 10 spot in 11th place (6.32), Super Bowl attendees and foodies alike will be pleased to know this stadium has both the sixth cheapest hot dogs ($4.75) and joint-fourth cheapest beer ($6.50).

Whatever the outcome, at least those watching in person can stuff their face for a reasonable price as they watch what’s bound to be an exciting game. At the stadium, they’ll be able to try out the likes of a Taco-Dilla, Touchdown Tossers salad, or even give the Gridiron Burger challenge a go.

A big part of the experience when attending a game includes the food and drink, which is why having delicious options at competitive prices is important to fans. For expert insight on the best online sports betting apps, check out USBettingReport.com.

Methodology

To determine which NFL stadium offers the best food experience, we created an index that considered four key factors with individual weightings adding up to 10.

  • Concessions Per Square Foot (ft²): The number of concession stands in the stadium divided by the overall stadium square footage.
  • Concessions Per Stadium Capacity: The number of concession stands in the stadium divided by the overall stadium capacity.
  • Price of a Hot dog $ (2022): The average price of a hot dog during the 2022 season.
  • Price of a Beer $ (2022): The average price of a small beer during the 2022 season.

To create the ranking, we combined the score of each factor to get a final index score out of 10. The higher the score, the better the stadium.
