The Mets Finished 2023 Scalding Hot (at the Sportsbook)

The New York Mets crawled to the sportsbook’s finish line in 2022, covering 24 of their final 50 regular-season run lines (.480) after covering 63 of their first 102 run lines (.618).

Their struggles continued into 2023, as they started 45-70 (.391), including 17-32 through late May (.347).

But after posting one of the worst run-line cover percentages over a season’s first 115 games in the last 20 years of MLB betting, the Mets dominated.

It started by covering as a home underdog against the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 12, 2023 — the first of 16 covers over a 21-game stretch through Sept. 5 — en route to a 30-14 (.681) mark through the season’s final 44 games.

If you bet $100 on the Mets’ run line in each of those games, you would’ve won nearly $1,200.

Will history repeat itself with betting success carryover from 2023 to 2024 in the same manner it did with betting failures from 2022 to 2023?
