The current MLB postseason system is unfair. Only three teams have reached the World Series since the introduction of the Wild Card round in 2012. The best Wild Cards have tended to be significantly better during the regular season than the worst division winners. The Mets are playing a best-of-three set against the Padres. They have a plus-166 regular-season run differential. Their potential second-round opponent is the Los Angeles Dodgers.
