The reason William Hill are ending their Scottish Cup sponsorship revealed as SFA line up new backer

William Hill's sponsorship of the Scottish Cup is not being renewed. The bookmaker has been involved in the competition since 2011. There are concerns about the association between football and gambling. SFA chiefs are looking for a new sponsor for the tournament. Hamilton boss Brian Rice broke gambling rules and was banned for five matches. William Hill’s branding on the South Stand at Hampden Park is expected to be removed. Tennent's Lager had previously backed the showpiece event but pulled their backing in 2007. Scottish Government took on sponsorship for two years. It was then the Homecoming Scottish and Active Nation Scottish Cups.
