The Sentry: PGA TOUR Golf Best Bets, Predictions, Odds to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook

The PGA TOUR begins its 2024 season this week in Lahaina, Hawaii with The Sentry. Kapalua Resort will be the host course, and measures as a 7,596-yard par 73 with Bermuda greens. We have a 59-man, no-cut event on tap this week, with Rory McIlroy being the only notable not making the trip.

Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.

Kim had a really strong Fall swing, as he won his third career PGA TOUR event at the Shriners Children’s Open back in October. In addition, he finished T18 or better in three other DP World Tour starts, including a T6 at the Cazoo Open de France. Kim had a nice 2023 season overall, posting six top-10s, with a runner-up at The Open Championship, and has gotten himself up to No. 11 in the world.

Kim’s putter got scorching hot down the stretch of last year, and then carried over to the Fall, so he should be set up to go low this week at what’s expected to be a birdie-fest in Hawaii. Kim’s biggest weakness is his off-the-tee play, which will be a bit muted here due to the wide fairways at Kapalua. In his lone start at this event last year, Kim finished T5, which is very encouraging for his prospects this week.

He’s shown he can hang with the world’s best on many occasions, so getting 22/1 in a 59-man field here is quite enticing.

Eric Cole to win (+5000)

I get there are some heavy hitters in this field, but getting 50/1 here on Cole seems like an auto click. This guy has been on the precipice of winning since last year’s Honda Classic, and has been on an absolute heater since the Fall. In five starts since the Fortinet Championship back in September, Cole has finished solo fourth, T3, T2, T3.

During this stretch (last 16 rounds), Cole sits No. 1 in this field in both SG: Approach and SG: Around-the-Green, while ranking third in SG: Tee-to-Green and SG: Total. He’s been playing like one of the best players in the world, but is certainly not priced like one. Cole is absolutely going to win this year, and there’s no reason it can’t be in the season opener.
