The winners and losers from the 2022 Wallabies season

The Wallabies have had a difficult year. They lost six of their eight Test matches. However, they have shown progress and are a World Cup dark horse. They have several players who have potential to play in the World cup. Some of them have already done the job. Other players have a point to prove in Super Rugby next season. The team has lost three of the last four matches by three points or less.

Jock Campbell made his international debut against Scotland at Murrayfield. He started in the gold jersey against France in Paris. Campbell played for The Southport School’s 2 XV in High School. The 27-year-old has been a mainstay of the Queensland Reds” matchday squads for a few years.

Len Ikitau is a star centre for the Wallabies. He started a number of games in the gold jersey this year. IKitau has all but booked his ticket to France in 2022.

Mark Nawaqanitawase is the most exciting player in Australian rugby right now. He played three Test matches on the end-of-season tour. Nwaqaqanaitwase made his international debut against Italy in Florence. The winger was at his best against Wales in Cardiff, where he scored two tries in 10 minutes.

The backrower had a career-best campaign in gold this year. Rob Valetini cemented his place in the Australian starting side.

The Rugby World Cup takes place in France in 2022. Some players who have been playing for their nations for years will be left out of the squad. Tom Wright played well for Australia this year. He played at both wing and fullback. He is hoping to be selected for the World cup.

Harry Wilson has fallen out of favour with the Australian rugby team. He started only two Test matches this year and didn't play a part in any others. The 23-year-old has just started pre-season with Queensland Reds.

James O'Connor was dropped from the Wallabies squad after their disastrous loss to Argentina in Mendoza. O’Connor has played for the Reds since returning to Australia.

Lachlan Swinton didn't play any Test matches this year. He hasn't played since the opening round of Super Rugby Pacific. Swton is in a real race to make the World Cup squad.

Noah Lolesio has been a key player for the Wallabies since making his international debut.

Lolesio started six matches at flyhalf for the Wallabies this year. Quade Cooper was out injured and James O'Connor was dropped.

Suliasi Vunivalu made his international debut earlier this year. He played some valuable minutes for Australia A. VUnivalU is a former NRL winger who played for Melbourne Storm.
