If the World Cup has taught us anything in the last week it is to expect the unexpected. The question is, can Enniskillen Gaels and Cargin replicate the shock wins by Saudi Arabia and Japan in Qatar?
Standing in their way are two of the powerhouses of Gaelic football in Ulster. On Saturday night, Enniskillen Gaels take on Ulster and All-Ireland champions Kilcoo, while on Sunday, Cargin clash with Glen.
In the last round, Kilcoo claimed an impressive 10-point victory over a Ballybay side who accounted for Crossmaglen in the preliminary round.
Enniskillen Gaels, meanwhile, defeated Cavan’s Gowna after a penalty shoot-out in Brewster Park.
Glen beat Errigal Ciaran in their last eight tie in Celtic Park while Cargin have already taken one scalp in the Ulster series as they defeated Donegal champions Naomh Conaill on penalties at Corrigan Park.
The finals of the Junior hurling and Junior football Championships are also down for decision this weekend as Stewartstown (Tyrone) take on Drumlane (Cavan) in the football decider on Saturday while Setanta (Donegal) are up against Glenarm (Antrim) in Sunday’s hurling final.
The Ulster Club Intermediate Football Championship is also down to the last four with Castlerahan (Cavan) facing Corduff (Monaghan) while Galbally (Tyrone) take on Dungloe (Donegal).
