Tottenham are producing 'great things' and 'showing signs of champions', says ex-striker Dimitar Berbatov as he makes his Premier League predictions ahead of the weekend

Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov believes his old club have shown championship material so far this season.

Spurs have been revitalised under new manager Ange Postecoglou and sit top of the Premier League table with six wins and two draws from their opening eight matches.

They host Fulham on Monday night and Berbatov is expecting them to continue their strong start with a 3-0 victory.

Writing for The Metro, the 42-year-old said: 'I like to watch from afar and not put too much pressure on Spurs but they’re showing great things and showing signs of champions.

'They’re on the right path. Fulham have their moments too but I’ll go for a Spurs win here and for them to continue to challenge for that trophy.

Bissouma will be missed and he’s the motor in the middle of the pitch but so is Hojbjerg. I think he’ll do a great job while Bissouma is unavailable.'

Berbatov also had his say on the weekend's biggest game, which sees Chelsea host Arsenal.

'The odds will be in favour of Arsenal, but you can never underestimate Chelsea,' he wrote.

'They’ve picked up speed and are heading in the right direction. I see goals in this game. Both teams can score goals. The usual suspects I fancy to score. The likes of Nicolas Jackson and Gabriel Martinelli as they’re always in the box.'

The Bulgarian also expects a relatively comfortable victory for Liverpool in their local derby against Everton while he thinks Man City will get back to winning ways at home to Brighton.

The former Man United forward is also tipping the Red Devils to edge past Sheffield United in a scrappy game.
