Tottenham vs. AC Milan picks and odds: Expect plenty of goals in Tuesday’s Champions League matchup

Two teams struggling to find their form meet in the Champions League this Tuesday when Tottenham take on AC Milan.

The pregame narrative: Both sides are playing dreadful defence as of late so we’re going to back the over in this matchup. We’re also expecting AC Milan to score early and are parlaying Harry Kane and Olivier Giroud to record one shot each at even odds.

Champions League odds as of 1:36 p.m. ET on 02/12/2023.

Tottenham vs. AC Milan picks

Best Bet: Over 2.5 goals (-110)

If you’re looking for a high-scoring matchup, we believe this game should satisfy that craving.

Tottenham are coming off a brutal 4-1 loss away to Leicester City in the Premier League. Their defence was non-existent in that contest and that’s typically been the case for them away from home this season.

The Spurs have conceded 25 goals in 17 away games across all competitions including three goals in their Champions League group stage away fixtures.

It’s been tough sledding for Tottenham but they have also been scoring frequently, burying just as many goals away from home as they’ve conceded. Three of their last five games have gone over this total, too.

As bad as Tottenham have been defending, Milan have debatably been worse.

Milan have given up a total of 13 goals in their last five games, losing four of those matches. They’ve gone over this total in six of their nine games since returning from the international break, too.

Key stat: Four of Milan’s six Champions League group stage games had three-plus goals scored.

Quick picks

AC Milan over 0.5 first-half goals (+108): Tottenham have made a habit of conceding goals early this season and we don’t think that will change against Milan.

The Spurs have given up the third-most first-half goals in the Premiership this season (18). They also conceded a first-half goal in three of their six Champions League group-stage games.

Milan have scored 15 first-half goals in 22 Serie A games.

Kane and Giroud both to record 1+ SOT (+100): We’re backing each team’s striker to record a shot on target on Tuesday.

Kane has been in great form for the Spurs lately and has one-plus shot on target in six of his last seven matches with 11 total SOT in that span.

Giroud has cleared this mark in six of his nine games for Milan since the international break. He also had one-plus SOT in four of his six Champions League appearances this year.
