Tottenham vs Newcastle Odds & Picks

With both sides struggling in what should be a close matchup, our EPL picks are looking to the player props for Tottenham vs Newcastle, and finding value in Dejan Kulusevski to step up.

Tottenham and Newcastle limp into this Sunday showdown with similar injury lists and the same alarm bells ringing as the race for the Premier League Top 4 heats up.

Both teams are also coming off disastrous Thursday defeats. Tottenham became the first team in Premier League history to lead in five straight games and win none of them as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against West Ham.

Meanwhile, on the heels of a key win over Manchester United, Newcastle had a late meltdown and slumped to a 3-0 loss away to Everton.

Read on as we break down the EPL odds for our free Tottenham vs Newcastle soccer betting picks and predictions ahead of this December 10 matchup, with just a single point separating these teams in the Premier League table.

EPL predictions for Tottenham vs Newcastle

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou isn’t looking for any sympathy, but his team has had a horrible run of bad luck since the calendar flipped to November.

The hosts enter the weekend in desperate need of three points to steady the ship, and Postecoglou will again be without creative sparks James Maddison and Ivan Perisic, while captain Son Heung-Min is questionable after coming off in the final minutes against West Ham.

That opens the door for Dejan Kulusevski to be Tottenham’s standout attacker on Sunday — and that’s where I’m looking for my favorite prop bet on Sunday. Kulusevski scored the late equalizer against Manchester City last weekend and he’s the type of player who can create a bit of magic to break open a tight game.

Operating from the right wing, he’ll likely be up against the talented but less experienced Tino Livramento, who’s been playing out of position at left-back for the Magpies with Dan Burn sidelined. That matchup could swing the outcome, with the hosts capable of sweeping counter-attacks.

Kulusevski was an assist machine in his first two seasons in North London, but he’s shown more of a scoring touch this year with four league goals to his name already.

This is a tough game to call with both teams wobbling, so I’m taking these odds for Kulusevski to be the Tottenham difference-maker.

Tottenham vs Newcastle same-game parlay

Dejan Kulusevski anytime goal or assistOver 2.5 goals

Miguel Almiron Over 0.5 shots on target

It’s asking a lot to expect these two weary squads to serve up a thriller here, with tired legs all over the field and key playmakers on the treatment table. Yet the trends suggest we’ll get goals at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The last five meetings have delivered 25 goals, all cashing the Over on 2.5 goals. Three of those contests also hit the Over on 4.5 goals. Tottenham haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last six games and their struggles to hang onto a lead lately loom large.

Just as Kulusevski will pose a threat on the right wing for Tottenham, Miguel Almiron can bring a similar spark for the visitors with his pace and dribbling. I’m wagering on Almiron to have at least one effort on target in a matchup that’ll be a big test for Tottenham full-back Destiny Udogie after his howler gifted West Ham a goal on Thursday.

Though Almiron hasn’t found the net since the 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in early November, he’s a constant threat and isn’t shy about letting fly when he’s in shooting range.

Tottenham vs Newcastle side and Over/Under analysis

While Tottenham get the favorites tag here, you can find plus odds for all three outcomes as the sportsbooks acknowledge that both teams have been erratic over the past month.

Tottenham’s injury jinx struck again on Thursday, with Son Heung-Min and Pedro Porro now questionable for the Magpies’ visit. A promising season has spiraled wildly since the end of September, and they’ve lost four of their last five games.

That would seem like a recipe for a Newcastle road win, but their away form has been a concern this season. You have to go back to September 24 for their last road win in the Premier League, and the squad has been stretched to breaking point over the last two weeks.

I expect scoring chances on Sunday despite the heavy minutes that many of these players have logged lately, and wet conditions could contribute to the chaos.

It’s worth remembering that Tottenham lost both meetings with Newcastle last season, including an embarrassing 6-1 loss at St. James’ Park in late April as the rampant Magpies went 5-0 up after just 21 minutes.

Tottenham’s last six games have all served up at least three goals, while the Magpies are fresh off a shaky defensive effort against Everton on Thursday in which they conceded three late goals.
