Tottenham have won their last five home meetings with Manchester City by 1-0 or 2-0 scorelines but a more open contest is expected in the FA Cup fourth round.

Two of those Spurs wins came under the pragmatic Jose Mourinho but current Lilywhites boss Ange Postecoglou sends his teams out with a far more attacking ethos.

Tottenham went toe-to-toe with City in December's dramatic 3-3 draw at the Etihad, where Son Heung-min scored a goal and an own goal inside the first nine minutes.

Top scorer Son, who has a great record against the Citizens, is away at the Asian Cup but the hosts still pose an attacking threat through Richarlison, Timo Werner, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson, and over 3.5 goals looks a good bet.

While City have failed to score on their last five visits to Spurs, they had 84 shots in those games – including two missed penalties – and should create chances against Postecoglou's gung-ho hosts.

Six of Tottenham's ten league games against top-half teams have produced over 3.5 goals and three of the others featured over 2.5.

Tottenham vs Manchester City tip 1: Over 3.5 goals @ 23/20 with Betfair

Phil can be first

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is unlikely to be risked as he continues his recovery from a foot injury so World Cup winner Julian Alvarez should lead the line for the FA Cup holders.

However, Phil Foden appeals in the first-goalscorer betting, having scored twice in the 5-0 third-round rout of Championship side Huddersfield.

The England international opened the scoring against the Terriers and has racked up ten goals in 23 starts for City in all competitions this season.

Foden is certainly not shot-shy, having 16 attempts at goal in his last three league appearances against Everton, Sheffield United and Newcastle, and he is a nice price to break the deadlock on Friday.

Back Bentancur in bet builder

Both teams have scored in nine of Tottenham's ten league matches against top-ten clubs in 2023-24 and the exception was August's 2-0 home win over Manchester United, who hit the woodwork with one of their 22 shots.

That looks a solid foundation for a Bet Builder and Pedro Porro, the Spurs hero in the third round, should be backed to have at least two shots against City.

Porro's stunning late winner against Burnley was his first goal of the season but there are signs there may be more to come as he has had 14 attempts in his last five home league games.

Tottenham's options in central midfield are limited by Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma's involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations so Rodrigo Bentancur will shoulder plenty of responsibility.

The Uruguay international looks a prime candidate to be shown a card as he attempts to disrupt a slick City attacking unit masterminded by the fit-again Kevin De Bruyne.

Injuries have restricted Bentancur to only three Premier League starts this term but he has been booked twice, including a caution in the 2-2 draw at Manchester United last time out.

Tottenham vs Manchester City tip 3: Bet Builder - Both teams to score, Pedro Porro to have two or more shots and Rodrigo Bentancur to be shown a card @ 11/1 with Betfair
