Trail Blazers vs Magic Prediction

Orlando Magic (27-37) vs Portland Trail Blazers (29-34)

Game Info: Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 6:00 pm (Amway Center)

Betting Odds: Orlando Magic +2.5 -- Over/Under: 230

The Portland Trail Blazers travel to the Amway Center to take on the Orlando Magic on Sunday night.

The Portland Trail Blazers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game slide after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 129-111 road loss on Friday. Damian Lillard led the way with 33 points and eight assists on 10 of 21 shooting, Cameron Reddish added 25 points while Jerami Grant chipped in with 14 points, but no other player finished in double figures in scoring. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense from the start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter and things only got worse in the third quarter where they allowed 38 points to trail by as many as 23 points.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last 10 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after beating the Hornets in a 117-106 road win on Friday. Paolo Banchero led the team with 31 points, six rebounds and five assists, Cole Anthony added 16 points while Jalen Suggs chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Magic shot 53 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Hornets from the start and outpaced them to lead by as many as 24 points in the third quarter before they finally took their foot off the gas.

Looking at the betting trends, the Trail Blazers are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games, 4-11-1 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a win and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points.

Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Orlando.

The Trail Blazers are again missing Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic, while the Magic are keeping eyes on Gary Harris and Franz Wagner who are both questionable. The Trail Blazers have really struggled to stay competitive despite big games from Damian Lillard on a nightly basis and I don’t think that will change against this Magic team who have been punching above their weight lately. I’d be more interested in the Trail Blazers if this game were at the Moda Center, but the Trail Blazers are only 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games and I think that’s what we’ll see again here.
