Training Icon Jonathan Sheppard Announces Retirement From American Racing

Jonathan E. Sheppard is retiring from racing. He won the steeplechase trainer titles by wins and purse earnings in the recently concluded 2020 season. His most recent champion was Hudson River Farms' Winston C (Ire). He had a flare-up of Lyme Disease last year. He is in remission now. In the early 1960s, he turned his eyes westward to the United States and trained in Pennsylvania. After a return to England and a brief period working in France's racing center in Chantilly, He came back to U.S. and took out his trainer's license in 1965.
