UB football earns first win of season, outlasts Eastern Michigan 50-31

University at Buffalo football team won 50-31 at Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The team had a slow start, but coach Maurice Linguist saw it as a learning experience. It was the team's first win in 10 months. The game was UB's Mid-American Conference opener. They were on the cusp of an 0-4 start. After the game, cornerback Jayden Oliver ran out of the visitor's locker room and ran to his mother. He let out a primal scream. UBU won 45-10 at Akron on October 23, 2021. Lenguist was a student at Baylor in 2005.

UB registered its highest rushing output of the season, accruing 201 yards and four touchdowns on 55 carries. The previous season-high in rushing was 159 yards on 31 carries on Sept. 10 in a 37-31 loss to Holy Cross.

UB football team won its first game of the season, beating Eastern Michigan 50-31. UB's defense forced the Eagles to turn the ball over on downs three times, the first two of which turned into scoring drives for Ub.

Bulls lost to Eastern Michigan. Special teams were a problem for the Bulls. They had a few mistakes in the first quarter. The team made some corrections at halftime. They won the game. It was their first win in a game since September. Linguist is satisfied with the improvement of the team. He thinks the locker room helped them. Eastern's coach is pleased with their improvement.

The Bulls scored 50 points at Eastern Michigan. The last time UB scored at least 50 in a game was against Wagner on September 2, 2021. Last time they scored more than 50 was a 56-7 win against Akron on December 12, 2020.

Elijah Blades and Max Michel played at Eastern Michigan. Neither did Jovany Ruiz, who played in his first game this season. Jackson Baltar, the punter and Caleb Offord, a cornerback, did not play. Quarterback Taylor Powell was injured at Arizona State. Austin Smith started in place of him.

UB football beats Eastern Michigan 50-31. UB hosts Miami (Ohio) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Ub Stadium.
