UFC 293: Israel Adesanya vs. Sean Strickland continues on the prelims with a fight in the lightweight division between Nasrat Haqparast and promotional newcomer Landon Quinones. Haqparast got back on track in his last fight meanwhile, Quinones won each of his last five fights coming into his UFC debut. With that said, check out our UFC odds series for our Haqparast-Quinones prediction and pick.

Nasrat Haqparast (14-5)  was slated to fight Sam Patterson until Patterson withdrew from the fight. Now he gets to take The Ultimate Fighter season 31 alumni Landon Quinones who's stepping in on just about two weeks' notice as he looks to keep his winning ways going when he steps into the octagon this Saturday night at UFC 293.

Landon Quinones (7-1-1) just appeared on season 31 on The Ultimate Fighter where he lost to semifinalist Jason Knight via triangle in just 55 seconds of the first round. He will be looking to show that he is a UFC-level talent and a better version of himself when he makes his first walk to the octagon this Saturday night as he takes on 10-fight UFC veteran Nasrat Haqparast.

Why Nasrat Haqparast Will Win

Nasrat Haqparast is back in action after a year layoff this weekend at UFC 293. He was originally slated to take on Contender Series alumni Sam Patterson but Patterson had to withdraw due to injury. Now, stepping in on about two weeks' notice is The Ultimate Fighter season 31 alumni Landon Quinones. Haqparast was once sought as a surging contender in the lightweight division after back-to-back wins against Rafa Garcia and Alex Munoz only to lose his next two fights that were essentially steps up in competition again Dan Hooker and Bobby Green.

Haqparast was able to get back on track against John Makdessi in his last fight and is looking to get back onto a winning streak when he takes on Quinones who is the former Titan FC Lightweight Champion. Haqparast is a dangerous striker who can toe-to-toe with some of the best strikers in the lightweight division and given how Quinones will give him the stand-up striking affair that he will be looking for, this is a good fight for him to potentially get back on a winning streak.

Why Landon Quinones Will Win

Landon Quinones is making his UFC debut far away from home on just two weeks' notice after getting a call that Sam Patterson was out of his fight against Nasrat Haqparast. Quinones jumped at the opportunity and is now taking on 10-fight UFC veteran Nasrat Haqparast. Much like himself, Haqparast does his best work when he is on the feet landing clean power combinations.

Haqparast isn't one that is going to be looking to land takedowns but would rather just slug it out on the feet to see who's the better striker. Quinones is a fighter who loves a good fist fight and he provides the punching power that could really be a game-changer coming into this fight. Haqparast was getting ready for a tall and long striker that utilizes a ton of leg kicks and long-range attacks but now has to worry about the pressure boxing style that Quinones brings to the table. If Haqparast underestimates Quinones there, Quinones can capitalize and potentially put him away.

Final Nasrat Haqparast-Landon Quinones Prediction & Pick

This should be an absolute banger between these two lightweight sluggers. We can expect these two to meet in the center of the octagon and throw down from the get-go. The way that this moneyline is set up right now with Nasrat Haqparast being a massive favorite over Landon Quinones just doesn't make too much sense. Haqparast is a known commodity in the lightweight division and has fought some of the best that the division has to offer but his best win was a closely contested fight against John Makdessi and he doesn't have that fight-ending power that his nine knockouts on his record suggests.

With how Haqparast will be giving Quinones the striking match that he wants, that gives him a much better chance than the current underdog line that he has. While on paper Nasrat Haqparast should have this in the bag, the line is making me take a shot on the underdog in Landon Quinones. Ultimately, things end up being relatively close on the feet until Quinones cracks Haqparast with something hard putting him away midway through the fight and getting him his first UFC win.

Final Nasrat Haqparast-Landon Quinones & Pick: Landon Quinones (+350), Under 2.5 Rounds (+108)
