The Octagon returns to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada this Saturday for UFC Vegas 88: Tuivasa vs. Tybura. This event features 13 bouts in total, including a heavyweight main event between Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura. We’ll break down that fight and two others in the latest Bookies.com .

UFC Vegas 88 Main Event Odds: Tai Tuivasa (-125) vs. Marcin Tybura (+105)

The main event of UFC Vegas 88 is a five-round heavyweight bout between Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura. Although he is the +105 underdog, I favor Tybura to pick up the victory here.

Tuivasa is 30 and he is 8-6 in the UFC. The Aussie is a fan favorite for his huge knockout power and his beer-drinking celebrations afterward. Out of his eight UFC wins, seven of them have come by knockout, showing how much power he has. However, all of those knockouts have come under 1.5 rounds, and as the fight goes on, he tends to fade.

As well, he also had a very durable chin at one point but it has been going as of late, having been stopped in his last three fights, including two brutal knockout losses. Tuivasa is a massive puncher but he is fairly one-dimensional in his game. He has a puncher’s chance, but the five rounds don’t help him.

Tybura is 38 and he is 11-7 in the UFC. The Pole has been around the UFC for eight years now and he has fought a fairly high level of competition during his time in the Octagon, including a knockout loss to interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall in his last fight. Historically, that’s been his biggest issue, as his chin has let him down with four knockout losses in the UFC.

But his ground game is very good, and he has some of the better wrestling in the heavyweight division. He also has very good cardio for a big man and has shown he can go five rounds in the past.

Tybura is not the most exciting fighter to watch, but he knows how to get his hand raised. Against Tuivasa, he has to avoid the big shot early, as he has the edge if the fight goes late.

Tuivasa will be dangerous early, but as the fight goes on it heavily favors Tybura, who has the far superior grappling and the better gas tank. I think Tybura can survive the first round, take this fight into deep waters, and eventually get a ground-and-pound TKO finish on an exhausted Tuivasa. Go with Tybura to win the fight at +105, and take him to win the fight by TKO.

UFC Vegas 88 Odds: Macy Chiasson (-205) vs. Pannie Kianzad (+170)

Also on the main card is a women’s bantamweight bout between Macy Chiasson and Pannie Kianzad. Despite being a +170 underdog, and although she lost the first time these two fighters matched up in 2018, I like Kianzad to get her hand raised here in this rematch.

Chiasson is 32 and she is 6-3 in the UFC. The former Ultimate Fighter winner started her UFC career off with three straight finishes, including a submission over Kianzad in their first fight to win TUF. Since then, she has been a decision machine, with her next three wins coming by decision.

She is a big bantamweight who will likely have trouble making the 135 lbs weight limit for this division, but if she can make the weight, she can be a very solid fighter in this weight class. She enters this fight on a long layoff, having not competed since September 2022.

Kianzad is 32 and she is 5-4 in the UFC. The Iranian-born Swede fighter began her UFC career with two straight losses but she reeled off four straight wins after that. She enters this bout having lost two of her last three fights, but one of those losses was a very competitive 15-minute decision loss to the current champion, Raquel Pennington.

Kianzad is a very good striker, and if she has improved in her takedown defense, then she should be more competitive against Chiasson. The first time they fought she was submitted, so she’ll need to stop the takedowns.

This should be a competitive fight that goes the full 15 minutes when it’s on the feet, and I view Kianzad as the superior striker and believe she can rack up enough points over the three rounds to win the fight.

Yes, Chiasson won their last meeting in 2018, but I feel like Kianzad has evolved as a fighter since then. I believe she can avoid takedowns as the fight goes on and pull away down the stretch for the W. Give me Kianzad as a +170 underdog and take her on points.

UFC Vegas 88 Odds: Cory McKenna (-125) vs. Jaqueline Amorim (+105)

A women’s strawweight bout between Cory McKenna and Jaqueline Amorim is on the prelims. McKenna is a -125 favorite, and I like her to win this fight.

McKenna is 24 and she is 3-1 in the UFC. The Welsh prospect was one of the youngest fighters in the promotion when she made her debut in 2020 and she has done well so far, winning three of her four fights inside the Octagon.

Her wrestling has been effective, taking down her opponents on average twice over 15 minutes, and she also has a submission win via the rarely-seen Von Flue choke. Her striking is not great, but it is improving. She is still a young fighter who trains at a great camp at Team Alpha Male and she keeps getting better.

Amorim is 28 and she is 1-1 in the UFC. The Brazilian came to the UFC with an unbeaten record but had a poor debut when she gassed out against Sam Huges and lost a decision after dominating early. She righted the ship with a TKO win over Montserrat Conejo Ruiz in her second UFC fight, but it was a win over one of the division’s worst fighters.

Amorim certainly has a high-level ground game, but her gas tank is a major concern against fighters with solid submission defense. Against McKenna, she could be in trouble if this fight goes late.

Although Amorim is dangerous early, McKenna should be able to thwart her early submission attempts and take this fight into the later rounds. After the first round, Amorim gets very tired and I like McKenna to get in top position and win this fight with her wrestling. Take McKenna to win this fight as a -125 favorite and take her to win this fight on the judges’ scorecards.
