Updated odds released for key Notre Dame games exiting spring ball

As Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman wrapped up its spring football practice and sessions, odds were released for three games during the 2023 season.

Freeman goes into Year 2 with the Notre Dame. Three big games for Notre Dame this year are Navy, Ohio State and USC.

Notre Dame hosts Ohio State and USC but heads to Dublin, Ireland against Navy. As it stands, the Fighting Irish are a 21.5 point favorite over the Midshipmen.

Despite hosting the Buckeyes, the Fighting Irish are a 10.5 point underdog inside their home stadium. But as far as the matchup against the Trojans, the odds are even money.

Back in March, Freeman talked about what he changed in terms of practicing. Sometimes the mantra “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” doesn’t necessarily apply.

“Last year was more about taking the things I’ve done, the different spring practice structures I’ve been a part of and say this is what we will do day 1-15,” Freeman said of Notre Dame’s practice, via Blue and Gold. “This year I kind of said let’s look at last year’s practice No. 1 and look at the progression and look at how the first week went and then the second and do we need to have more time here or less time here or can we add a high running period here or a period that is not as intense.

“I’m looking at the structure of how we practice and finding ways to enhance so they perform better on Saturdays. That is what we are looking for. Enhance practice to perform better on Saturday.”

Freeman and Notre Dame finished 9-4 in 2022 and No. 18 in the final AP Poll following a Gator Bowl victory over South Carolina.

Brian Kelly’s departure for LSU prior to last season, many expected Freeman to keep the train rolling. However, it didn’t get off to the best start.

It was an 0-2 start with losses to Ohio State and Marshall, so Freeman and Marshall had to look inward.

The Fighting Irish were 3-3 before ripping off five straight wins. A 38-27 loss to USC Nov. 26 ended Notre Dame’s chances for a New Year’s Six Bowl.

But, Notre Dame and Freeman get another crazy at Ohio State and USC in 2023.
