The US Open gets started on Thursday, June 15 at the Los Angeles Country Club, the first time the event has been run in LA in 75 years. The last time was back in 1948.

Above you’ll find the US Open odds for the top 10 golfers this week of the 156 competing. Overall 39 of the top 40 ranked PGA Tour players will be participating with only Will Zalatoris missing out of that group due to injury. Last year’s winner, Matt Fitzpatrick’s current odds are +3500.

Scottie Scheffler finished tied in second last year and is the current favorite at DraftKings with +650 odds. He has the most top-ten finishes this season with 12. He’s followed by Jon Rahm (+900), Brooks Koepka (+1200), Rory McIlroy (+1400) and Patrick Cantlay (+1600).

When making your US Open picks you should consider that every winner since 2008 has had at least one top-ten finish in his past five tournaments heading into the tournament,

The first-round head-to-head odds between these players favor Smith (-140) over Young (+110).

That makes sense with Smith ninth in the PGA rankings compared to Young who’s 17th.

Young has also been struggling of late with a T-51st, T-59th, two missed cuts, and a T-57th showing in his last five tournaments.

But for Smith, he was T-9th in his last event, the LIV Golf Invitational DC. In his last six tournaments (four in LIV and two PGA), only once has he finished worse than ninth and that was at the Masters. His other PGA finish was ninth at the Championship.

Pick: Smith over Young (-140)

DraftKings favors Hatton at -130 over Fleetwood at +100 in the first-round US Open picks.

Hatton has been getting bet hard in the US Open as his odds have dropped from +6000 three weeks ago to +3000 today.

Hatton has had three top-five finishes in his last five events and finished third in the Canadian Open last week in his last tournament.

Fleetwood finished tied in first with Nick Taylor at -17 at the Canadian Open but lost in a playoff in his last tournament. However, he missed the cut at Charles Schwab and only has two top-five finishes in his previous 10 events to that.

Over the last 36 rounds, Hatton ranks 13th in stroked gained tee to green while Fleetwood is not among the top 25. Hatton is also 19th in that time period in strokes gained approach, while Fleetwood is again not in the top 25.

Pick: Hatton over Fleetwood (-130)

It’s #1 (Scheffler) versus #2 (Rahm) in the PGA rankings here in this US Open H2H matchup. They’re also 1-2 in the same order in scoring average.

It’s hard to go against either of these guys right now. At a better price, Rahm (+110), who has four wins and a second-place showing in his past 12 tournaments, including a win at the Masters, could be the way to go against Scheffler, who’s priced at -130 in this US Open prop.

However, Rahm has cooled off just a bit of late. He finished T-16th at the Memorial Tournament and T-50th in the PGA Championship. He was second in Mexico and T-15th at the RBC Heritage to round out his last four events.

Meanwhile, Scheffler’s last four results have read 3rd, T-3rd, T-2nd and T-5th. He actually hasn’t finished below 12th in 2023 or in any of his last 15 events.

Scheffler also dominates nearly all of the strokes gained categories. He’s first in strokes gained total, off-the-tee, tee-to-green and approach the green.

Pick: Scheffler over Rahm (-130)
