Utah Tech pits pass-happy offense against stout Weber State defense

Utah Tech Trailblazers (1-1) and Weber State (2-0) are playing each other in the season opener. Utah Tech's offense is pass-happy and efficient. Weber is in transition period to full Division I membership. The Wildcats lost to WSU 41-3 last year. The TrailBlazer's quarterback is efficient and effective. They lost 56-33 to Sacramento State and won 56,10 against Division II Chadron State. Joey Hobert is the team's primary receiver. He has 17 catches for 344 yards and three touchdowns. Quali Conley has run for 93.5 yards per game.

The Northern Utah football team has a list of players from Weber, Davis, Morgan and Box Elder counties.

Ty Metcalfe, Hudson Schenck, Alema Tupuola, Jordan Strate, Breckin Gunter, Nuuletau Sellesin, Easton Payne, Cormac Boyer, Sloan Calder, Haze Hadley, Brayden Wilson, Hayden Meacham are on the team.

Trace Tupe, Justin Kirkland, Cannon Panfiloff, Nathan Anderson, Baylor Payan, Micah Vuki, Mason Clark, Stryker Rashid are all from Utah Tech.

Jeff Sagarin's computer ratings system ranks Weber State No. 83 out of 261 Division I teams and No 4 among FCS teams. Bill Connelly's SP+ system predicts a 40-6 win for WSU. DRatings predicts 40,15 at 97% probability.

The forecast calls for partly cloudy weather and a high of 75 degrees in Ogden. It predicts 73 degrees at 6 p.m. kickoff and cloudy skies as the sun sets at 7:33 p., with a temperature in the mid-60s by game’s end.
