Valero Texas Open expert picks, best bets for PGA Tour golf this week

Golf makes its last stop before The Masters at the Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio. Scottie Scheffler is the new No. 1-ranked player in the world, but he won't be in this event. Jordan Spieth won the event last year. Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Bryson DeChambeau and other top players are playing there.

Maverick McNealy is a one and done pick for Valero Texas Open. He hasn't missed a cut since the Shriner's in October and has been reeling off some nice finishes.

Chris Kirk is a top 10 pick for Valero Texas Open. He has been on a tear recently and has good history at this event. He is fourth in this field over the last 50 rounds in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green per round.

Hideki Matsuyama is a favorite to win Valero Texas Open. Matsuya has been injured recently, but he's been in good form this season. He's a good player who can score on Par-5s and has good ball-striking skills.

Bryson DeChambeau is a long shot to make the cut at the Texas Open. He returned from an injury-related hiatus at Match Play last week and didn't look good. His driver was erratic and his irons and wedges looked rusty.

Tyler Duncan won the RSM Classic back in 2019. He finished T25 at the Valspar and T35 at Puerto Rico Open in his last two starts. Duncan is gaining strokes in every category lately and striking the ball well from tee to green.
