Vow And Declare breaks three-year drought to claim Zipping Classic

Vow And Declare won the group 2 Zipping Classic on Saturday. It was his first win since his memorable 2019 Melbourne Cup triumph. He was injured in the Naturalism in 2021 and had to undergo a long rehab. Crosshaven won a group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes. Norwegian Bliss lost at her eighth start.  Crosshaven had not won in 15 starts. The trainer Ben Hayes said the owners were patient. They had been patient with him. His breeder Daniel Nakhle in New Zealand was also happy. he had won two races in two years. In the Guineas Prelude and a Carbine Club Stake, he finished fourth.
