Denver, New Orleans and Memphis have all battled injuries recently. They are playing for home-court advantage. They have never finished as the 1-seed in their history.

LaMelo Ball has started seven games since his return this month. He missed 13 games to start the season and another 11 after a freak injury involving a fan. Since his comeback, he's played seven times a night scoring no less than 23 points. Charlotte's defensive rating has worsened with their pace also speeding up.

Nikola Jokic is on a mission to win his third straight MVP trophy. He needs to average a triple-double and score more points per game than 2021-22 to do it. Michael Porter Jr. has missed 13 games since late-November but returned two games ago. MPJ is an underrated scorer and a reliable playmaker.

Luka Doncic is no longer the favourite to win MVP. He is second in the league in scoring and second on advanced metrics like Win Share and Box Plus/Minus. Dallas is currently seventh in West and haven't gone on a winning streak longer than four games. They play four consecutive games before hosting the Celtics in new year.

Paolo Banchero is the favourite for NBA Rookie of the Year. He's currently -650 on FanDuel. Last year, Evan Mobley was -600. Ja Morant was never a favourite until the end.
