West Ham head into tonight's London derby with Brentford still looking for their first win of 2024, and will be aiming to end a current run of three straight defeats which has seen them fall off the pace in the battle for European football next season.
The weekend's results leaves David Moyes' side 10th in the Premier League table, though a win tonight would take them into the top eight, with only goal difference separating them from seventh, which will likely be enough to qualify for European football next season.
It's currently eight matches without a win in all competitions for the east London side, a run which saw them exit the FA Cup at the third round stage to Championship opposition, and lose hold of their top six position which they held at the turn of the year.
Tonight's game will be the Hammers' first time playing in their home stadium since their 6-0 humbling at home to Arsenal a fortnight ago, and will be desperate to put on a show for their home fans and earn themselves a first win of the year.
Brentford have also struggled for form of late, losing four of their last five matches and 10 of their last 13 which leaves them straggling at the wrong end of the table as they bid to avoid relegation and extend their three-year stay in the Premier League.
Thomas Frank's side head into tonight's match 15th in the table, five points clear of the bottom three but with the possibility to reach 13th with victory in east London tonight, which would drastically ease their relegation worries.
Despite having lost four of their last five matches, two of those defeats have come against Manchester City, while the other pair came against Liverpool and Tottenham.
The Bees will be aiming to return home back across the capital city later tonight with three points under their bonnet, and will be grateful to finally get to play against a side not currently in the Premier League's top five.
West Ham prepare for the visit of Brentford having lost five of their last six matches between the two sides, not winning a home game game against the Bees for 31 years.
