What is Ohio State football’s massive point spread over Purdue? College betting lines

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football is again a big betting favorite at Purdue on Saturday, but that won’t comfort some fans who remember what tends to happen in West Lafayette.

Draft Kings opened the Buckeyes as 20.5-point favorites for Saturday’s noon kickoff. They are only 1-2 this season when favored by 20-plus points.

However, it is OSU’s direct history at Purdue that will be cited a lot this week — even though the Boilermakers are 2-4.

Purdue has won three of its last seven and four of its last 10 heads up against the Buckeyes since 2004. All of those victories came in Ross-Ade Stadium.

Purdue is also 8-4 against the spread in games against Ohio State dating back to 2002, per the Odds Shark database. The Buckeyes have covered in two of the last three meetings, including a 59-31 rout in 2021.

The Boilermakers are 2-4 against the spread this season, covering only in their wins over Virginia Tech and Illinois.

However, the other game was a 49-20 loss in West Lafayette in 2018 when OSU was ranked No. 2. This will be the program’s first visit since that loss that ruined the Buckeyes’ playoff hopes.

No over/under point total has been posted.
