What Roope Hintz' eight-year extension means to Dallas

Mike Modano was 28 when the Stars won the Stanley Cup in 1999. Sergei Zubov was 26 at the time. Derian Hatcher and Darryl Sydor were 26. Jere Lehtinen and Richard Matvichuk were 25. Roope Hintz signed an eight-year extension with Dallas.

Oettinger signed a three-year deal at $4.0 million. Ken Hitchcock's team went 48-26-8 in his first full season. They made it to the Western Conference finals the next season and lost to Detroit. The next year they won it all. Jamie Benn has been given an eight- year contract extension. Nill and the front office have added players like Nils Lundkvist, 22, Ty Dellandrea, and Wyatt Johnston, 19. The team has some nice pieces waiting in the wings after a few strong drafts. It's expensive but the team is not worried about that.
