Wheeling Wrestling Kicks off Season at Mount Union Invitational
The Wheeling University wrestling team is preparing for the new season. The team has a mix of veterans and newcomers. Last year's team won their first dual meet in over two years and had success at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) tournament. River Pappas was the team's only place at NCAA Super Regionals. The freshman class features Ryan Sweeney and Caden Canning. They are looking to make their mark on the MEC. Wheelering's rugby team made the playoffs. It will be the first match of the season at Mount Union Invitational. First matches start at 9 AM.
Wheeling will compete in the 2022 Mount Union Invitational. It will be Wheeling's first trip back to the tournament since the 2014-2015 season. The event will feature teams from NCAA Division II and Division III. Wheeling will face West Liberty and Glenville State.
