Which College Has Won the Most Heisman Trophies?

The Heisman Trophy is given yearly to the player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The first Heisman trophy winner was Jay Berwanger from the University of Chicago in 1935.

Ohio State Buckeyes have won 7 Heisman Trophies. The most recent was in 2006 when Troy Smith won it. Archie Griffin won the award twice at Ohio State in 1974 and 1975. Current quarterback CJ Stroud is the odds-on favorite to win the trophy this year.

Oklahoma Sooners have won 7 Heisman trophies. The most recent four Heisman winners were quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray are the current Heisman champions. Mayfied is playing for the Carolina Panthers and Murray for Arizona Cardinals.

Notre Dame has won the most Heisman Trophies with 7. The oldest living Heisman winner is John Lujack, 97. Several Heisman winners have been selected to the NFL Hall of Fame.

USC Trojans have won the most Heisman Trophies with 6. Reggie Bush won it in 2006, but it was vacated in 2010 because of NCAA violations. Outside of Bush, the only other winner is Carson Palmer, who went on to have success in the NFL.

Bryce Young is the only Alabama quarterback to have won the Heisman Trophy. All four Alabama Heisman winners have come under coach Nick Saban. Alabama is one of the top college football picks to secure a college Football playoff berth and win the championship this season.

All three Heisman trophy winners for the Florida State Seminoles have been quarterbacks. Jameis Winston won the award in 2013.

Michigan Wolverines have won 3 Heisman Trophies. Tom Harmon, Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson won the award. Woodon was the No. 4 overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft and is a member of the college football and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

CJ Stroud is the front-runner for this year's Heisman Trophy. He has 28 touchdowns, more than 2,000 passing yards and just four interceptions. Tennessee's Hendon Hooker has 19 touchdowns and more 2.000 yards passing. USC's Caleb Williams has also 235 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Alabama's Bryce Young has 18 touchdown passes with three interceptions and less than 1,800 yards.

Archie Griffin won two Heisman Trophies in back-to-back seasons in 1974 and 1975. Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame possess the most Heisman Trophy winners with seven each.
