Heisman Watch: Buckeyes Have Three of Top Seven Heisman Candidates to Begin Season

Ohio State has three of the top seven Heisman Trophy candidates to begin the season. Bryce Young won the award last year. C.J. Stroud is considered a contender to win the Heisman this season, but Desmond Howard doesn't think he should be the favorite. The Heisman is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Georgia won last season's national championship. Alabama has a stacked roster with a quarterback, a defensive player and a generational talent. The Crimson Tide and the Buckeyes are ranked as the two top teams in the country. Ohio State's season opener is against Notre Dame on Saturday.

Stroud is the favorite to win the Heisman this year. He was invited to the ceremony last year and has more experience this time. Stroud has a loaded group of wide receivers to throw to.

Henderson is a freshman running back who had 210 touches last season and gained 1,560 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. He will improve on those numbers this season.

Smith-Njigba is a junior wide receiver for Ohio State. He is one of the top three Heisman candidates. The Buckeyes have a lot of talent at wide receivers.
