Delhi Police extradited Sanjeev Chawla to India on Wednesday. He is the key suspect in the 2000 cricket match-fixing scandal involving late South African captain Hansie Cronje and several Indian former cricket stars. Chwala moved to the UK in 1996 on a business visa, but his Indian passport was revoked in 2000 and he became a British citizen in 2005. He was accused of fixing cricket matches between India and South Africa between February 16, 2000, and March 20,2000 in India. Cronjes was killed in a plane crash in June 2002. The scandal broke in April 2000.
