A fight with his brother Logan has been teased before. But the elder brother will be clashing with Dillon Danis in the Fall.
McGregor, Nick Diaz, Masvidal, and Mayweather all have varying hurdles in the way of becoming the next opponent of Jake Paul.
Masvidal seems to be focused on building his own promotion and seemingly at this juncture might not be as down to compete under a Paul-focused promotional banner. McGregor is tied to the UFC and cannot pursue this. Nick Diaz abides by not trying to take potential fights away from his brother and Nate does the same in the inverse.
Mayweather does have a bit of history with Paul but the biggest issue would be booking this as either an exhibition or an official pro contest. Floyd Mayweather has been on an exhibition tour of late and Paul would assuredly want it to be an official bout which Mayweather is not beholden to do at all.
Paul in MMA…?
This contest was fought under Queensberry rules but mixed martial arts is very much on Paul’s radar at some point. The combat sports disruptor has signed with the PFL and will compete under MMA rules in their Smart Cage.
The target for this debut effort in MMA is seemingly 2024 and a familiar foe/ former UFC title challenger is in his crosshairs.
A rematch with Diaz under MMA rules has been mentioned multiple times by Paul as he tried to entice Diaz into it with a ten million dollar-plus purse. That being said, I still see Paul taking at least one more boxing bout before stepping into the cage and donning the four-ounce gloves in an MMA fight.
When Does Paul Fight Next?
As far as when Paul fights next, I could see him getting in one more in December or early in the first quarter of 2024.
The lines for Fury and KSI should be a bit closer in my view being that these two are scheduled to fight on that aforementioned card featuring Paul vs Danis. The winner of that bout looks like the likely candidate to be Paul’s next in-ring adversary as I ultimately believe Paul’s next combat sports foray will be under boxing rules.
My timeline is an inference based on the Fury vs KSI winner emerging from an October bout to likely fight Paul thereafter. I theorize that a redemptive rematch will be in the cards next for Jake Paul.
