Who will win the IPL Orange Cap 2023? Betting odds, favourites, predictions

Each year, the IPL recognises the competition's best batters with the Orange Cap, awarded to the player who records the most runs during the season.

Aside from the title, the Orange Cap is one of the most prestigious awards in the IPL, with prestigious names such as Chris Gayle and David Warner among those to take the honour.

In 2022, Jos Buttler became the latest player to be awarded the Orange Cap, but who will win the award in 2023?

Who will win the IPL Orange Cap 2023?

While there are is always an element of the unknown with these things, there are still a number of names who are almost guaranteed to be in contention for the IPL Orange Cap.

Virat Kohli

He's the man you never count out on a cricket pitch, and in 2023 Kohli will be making a strong run at the Orange Cap.

He had 341 runs in 2022, and will only be looking to improve from here, in order to help Royal Challengers Bangalore claim their maiden title.

Dafa Sports currently have Kohli as the second-favourite to win the award.

Jos Buttler

The 2022 Orange Cap winner, there is no doubt that Jos Buttler will come into 2023 ready to back up last season.

While there has only been one back-to-back winner in IPL history - Chris Gayle in 2011 and 2012 - Buttler's 863 runs in 2022 was the second most in an IPL season ever, clearly showing he has what it takes to win the award again.

The market also seems to believe that Buttler is the smart choice, with Dafa Sports currently listing the Englishman as the favourite at 5.50.

David Warner

He's the only person to ever win three IPL Orange Caps, but in 2023 David Warner is looking to extend history, and take home a fourth.

He may be coming off an inconsistent Test performance for Australia, but his last season in the IPL was electric, scoring 432 runs for Delhi Capitals, enough to be seriously considered for the 2023 Orange Cap.

Can the Australian add one more Orange Cap to an already stacked trophy cabinet? According to Dafa sports, Warner is the fifth-most likely to claim this honour, at $11.00.

Shubman Gill

One of the IPL's up-and-coming superstars, Shubman Gill will be a name to watch in the 2023 Orange Cap race.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2018, Gill has increased his batting production each year, finishing with 483 runs in 2022.

With talent like this, the sky is the limit for the 23-year-old, who Dafa Sports believe to be the third favourite for the award, behind only Buttler and Kohli.

Other contenders

With the wealth of talent that is the IPL, there are of course a number of other legitimate contenders, including names such as Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and KL Rahul, all more than capable of putting up bulk loads of runs and going home with the Orange Cap.
