who wins in Japan and Mexico?

Repeat winners, titles retained, first time victors? Who are we choosing for glory this week?

There is both PGA and LPGA Tour action this week, but who are we offering up as our betting tips for the week’s action?

Following on from a week where we had two play-offs, one of which lasted a whopping nine holes, and a record-breaking win in Riyadh, we have both PGA Tour and LPGA Tour action this week.

The LPGA Tour stays in the Far East, with the TOTO Japan Classic, while the PGA Tour returns to North America. El Cardonal at Diamante in Mexico plays host to the World Wide Technology Championship

Both events this week are moving to a different venue, and will change things? Matt Coles takes a look at some of the contenders for glory here…

World Wide Technology Championship betting tips and preview

Venue: El Cardonal at Diamante, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Date: November 2-5, 2023
Coursestats: Par 72, 7,363 yards
Defendingchampion: Russell Henley (-23 @ Mayakoba)

Beau Hossler @ 30/1 with bet365

Having not made it into the top 50 on the FedEx Cup standings, Beau Hossler has since been in great form to make sure he makes the top 60.

He has finished inside the top 30 at all four of the events on the Fall Series to date, including top-10s at the last two tournaments.

A T7 finish at the Shriners Children’s Open was followed by a runner-up finish at the ZOZO Championship in Japan a couple of weeks ago.

This would be the perfect week for him to grab a maiden PGA Tour title, and clinch his spot in some of the biggest events on Tour in 2024.

J.J. Spaun @ 30/1 withbet365

Another man who has been in good form over the four Fall Series tournaments is J.J. Spaun.

The American has managed two top-12 finishes in that time, including a T6 last time out at the ZOZO Championship.

He also came home in a tie for 11th at the Fortinet Championship in September. At 30/1, Spaun is a good shout to earn his second PGA Tour title.

Ludvig Aberg: The Swede’s form has been incredible in recent weeks, culminating in being part of the Ryder Cup team for Europe.

He grabbed his first professional win at the Omega European Masters in September. After missing out in a five-man play-off a couple of weeks ago, Aberg is the favourite at 9/1 to secure a maiden PGA Tour title in Mexico.

Luke List: List was the victor in the aforementioned five-man play-off at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

That was his second PGA Tour title, and he is 40/1 to win for a second time in as many months.

TOTO Japan Classic betting tips and preview

Venue: Minori Course at Taiheiyo Club, Omitama, Japan
Date: November 2-5, 2023
Coursestats: Par 72, 6,983 yards
Defendingchampion: Gemma Dryburgh (-20 @ Seta)

Xi Yu Lin @ 12/1 with bet365

With a victory and three other top 25 finishes in her last four outings, China’s Xi Yu Lin should be one to keep an eye on this week.

Her victory at the Aramco Team Series Hong Kong was her first on the Ladies European Tour since 2015, and also her first professional win outside of China.

I am backing Xi Yu Lin to make it two wins in as many months this week, and she is the second favourite for the TOTO Japan Classic, at 12/1.

Ayaka Furue @ 22/1 with bet365

Back on home soil, and having won this event in 2021, Ayaka Furue at 22/1 is a very good bet for glory this week.

Furue was victorious at the TOTO Japan Classic a couple of years ago, winning by two shots. She has also found some good form in recent weeks.

The Japanese star had a top-10 finish at the BMW Ladies Championship and came home T29 at the Maybank Championship on Sunday.

She has also finished in the top ten at both the Women’s PGA Championship and the US Women’s Open in 2023.

Gemma Dryburgh: She’s the defending champion, so we had to give Gemma Dryburgh a shout out for the win again this week.

The Scot finished in tie for 6th at the Maybank Championship on Sunday, and is bringing good form to Japan. She is 50/1 to retain her title.

Jiyai Shin: A former winner of this event and back in the top three of the majors in 2023, South Korean Jiyai Shin is 16/1 for victory in Japan.
