Wimbledon Day 4 Men’s Predictions Including Alcaraz vs Muller

Expect plenty of entertaining tennis on day four at the Championships. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate in SW19, including Andy Murray vs Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev vs Adrian Mannarino and Taylor Fritz vs Mikael Ymer, but who will reach the third round at Wimbledon?

Wimbledon Day 4 Predictions

Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexandre Muller

Yesh: Alexandre Muller was impressive enough in his opening-round win over Arthur Rinderknech, but Carlos Alcaraz is just on another level right now. The Spaniard can beat just about anyone, as he’s adjusted to the grass extremely quickly.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 3

Damian: Everyone expected Rinderknech to play Alcaraz here, but the all-French clash ended with a Muller victory. With the slightly more proactive mindset and an improved serve these days, perhaps it’s no wonder that the 26-year-old got himself to a decent level on grass as well. It should still be far away from what Alcaraz brings to the court though.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 3

Jakub: Alcaraz sent off Jeremy Chardy into retirement in a largely comfortable fashion and I expect more of the same in his second-round match against Alexandre Muller. The Frenchman already pulled off a pretty big upset over his country Arthur Rinderknech and doesn’t really have weapons to hurt Alcaraz here.

Prediction: Alcaraz in 3

Tommy Paul vs Milos Raonic

Yesh: Milos Raonic loves the grass. No one knows just how long he’ll be playing for, but as long as he’s match fit, he should have all of the advantages in this match.

Prediction: Raonic in 4

Damian: Raonic’s baseline game probably looked shakier than in Hertogenbosch when he played Dennis Novak, but the serve was just unstoppable. We’ll see whether he’ll be able to keep going physically. Paul is a tougher opponent, but not that much tougher. If the 2016 runner-up can find his vintage magic, he should be able to find a way.

Prediction: Raonic in 5

Jakub: After losing 6-4 in the third to Francisco Cerundolo twice in the lead-up events, Tommy Paul started his Wimbledon with a good win over Shintaro Mochizuki, dropping nine games. Milos Raonic also looked really good in his opener, coming back from a set down to beat Dennis Novak in four sets. This match could really go either way but when Raonic’s game is on, he is still almost unbeatable.

Prediction: Raonic in 5

Denis Shapovalov vs Gregoire Barrere

Yesh: Another Canadian who loves the grass. Unfortunately, Denis Shapovalov hasn’t found any type of consistency in years. It doesn’t matter, though. He should still have enough to get past Gregoire Barrere, even if the Frenchman is surging.

Prediction: Shapovalov in 4

Damian: This one feels really hard to predict. Shapovalov was pretty impressive in the three sets played against Albot on Wednesday, but Barrere is a completely different matchup. He serves almost as big and takes the ball as early as Shapovalov does. Should be a true battle for control over the baseline.

Prediction: Barrere in 5

Jakub: Shapovalov dropped the first set to Radu Albot but played himself into the match, winning sets three and four 6-2. The semifinalist from two years ago will face Gregoire Barrere who took out Lloyd Harris in the battle of two in-form players. Barrere will be more of a challenge but if Shapovalov can keep the consistency going, he will win here.

Prediction: Shapovalov in 4
