Swiatek vs Bencic Prediction

Oft-underestimated even through the periods when she’s been in the top 10, Bencic’s career record against top-10 players is pretty good, at 34-29.

And she’s beaten Serena Williams, Simona Halep, Caroline Wozniacki, Naomi Osaka and many others – all more than once.

Notably, she and Swiatek met in the round of 16 at the US Open in 2021;  Bencic came through in two tight sets.

Swiatek vs Bencic History

Swiatek was slightly tested in the second set of her third-round match against No. 30 seed Petra Martic.

Bencic escaped in a third-set match tiebreak in the second round against powerful American Danielle Collins. She’s had the tougher road. And the tougher year.

Until she arrived at the All-England club, Bencic had played just one match since Charleston in early April – a first-round loss at the French Open. She’d been dealing with a hip issue since the Indian Wells/Miami swing.

Has she looked good enough to push Swiatek to the limit? Maybe to a third set. But probably not all the way.

Swiatek vs Bencic Pick: Swiatek in Three Sets (+380)

Safiullin vs Shapovalov Prediction

If you’re Denis Shapovalov, even in a tough season, you can’t look at having an unseeded player ranked No. 92 in his first Wimbledon main draw and only his second career visit as a man who will stop you from getting to the quarterfinals.

Better yet, the Canadian actually has experience against him – twice, in Australia, the two met and Shapovalov won both.

Hopefully he won’t overthink it. But he can’t afford to pass up the opportunity, even if we predict he’ll have a by now almost expected little dip in the middle.

Safiullin vs Shapovalov Pick: Shapovalov in Four Sets (+310)

Azarenka vs Svitolina Prediction

These two go back a long way. And they have plenty in common – both came back after having their first child and, in some ways, are as good or better as they’ve ever been.

But Azarenka has never lost to the Ukrainian.

It’s a hard one to figure out, given both have been so good.

Azarenka vs Svitolina History

Azarenka has made “just” two Wimbledon semifinals in 14 trips. A year ago, she was banned because she’s Belarussian.

It’s still better than Svitolina, who had one semifinal in 2019 but has played just once since then.

But she’s almost back in the top 50, after just three months back on Tour. (She was at No. 1344 when she came back). It has been a revelation, and she made the French Open quarterfinals just a month ago.

Svitolina had a tough draw against the legendary Venus Williams in the first round, but took care of business and did the same against the surprising Sofia Kenin. Azarenka made it look easy against No. 11 seed Daria Kasatkina in the third round.

With Azarenka’s historical dominance and her superior grass-court pedigree meeting Svitolina’s renewed determination, it sets up as a marathon.

Azarenka vs Svitolina: Over 2.5 Sets (+145)
