Against Pittsburgh, Winnipeg’s offensive struggles in recent games reared their head again as they suffered a fourth straight defeat, scoring a total of three goals in that stretch. In the second period, Winnipeg was outshot by a 9-8 margin and outscored 2-0 to trail 3-0 at the second intermission. The third period saw the Jets with a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal but neither team was able to light the lamp, leaving them on the wrong end of a shutout loss. Connor Hellebuyck made 24 saves for the Jets, who were outshot 27-23, in the loss. He’s likely to be between the pipes again for this contest for Winnipeg.

Both teams have had their struggles of late with the Jets losing four straight and the Flyers having dropped five straight before getting in the win column Tuesday night. Philadelphia has home ice advantage going for them but the fact remains that they have had issues lighting the lamp this season. The Flyers have had their off-ice issues surrounding them with Carter Hart being away from the team. Winnipeg has struggled denting the twine during this four-game skid, tallying only three goals, including getting shut out twice. The Jets are the league’s stingiest team when it comes to keeping the opposition in check this season. Look for Winnipeg to skate away with a much-needed victory in this contest.

Prediction: Winnipeg Jets -142

Rating:

Winnipeg has seen the under post a 26-15-7 mark in their 48 games this season. The Jets have seen an average total of 5.40 goals per game on the season. That number falls to an average of 5.04 goals per game on the road on the year. Philadelphia enters this game having seen the under post a 28-20-3 mark in their 51 contests this season. The Flyers have seen an average total of 5.73 goals per game this season though that number climbs to an average of 5.96 goals per game as the home team. We have seen both teams play sound defensive hockey this season and they have struggled on the offensive end of the ice. As a result, lean toward the under in this contest.

Prediction: Under 6
