Wizards at Rockets (Jan. 25): Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Monday’s win over Minnesota, the brutal and NBA-worst losing streak for the Houston Rockets (11-36) is history. Now, with a middling Washington (20-27) squad headed to town on Wednesday, the Rockets have a chance to launch a winning streak.

For surging Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun and the rest of the Rockets, it’s Game 2 of a three-game homestand at Toyota Center. For Bradley Beal and the Wizards, it’s the second night of a road back-to-back in Texas after winning at Dallas on Tuesday night.

If you’re looking to do last-minute betting research for Wednesday’s Wizards-Rockets clash, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at BetMGM.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Central and can be seen via AT&T SportsNet Southwest (in Houston markets) or on NBA League Pass.

Wizards at Rockets injury report:

  • Rockets: Kevin Porter Jr. out (left foot soreness), Jabari Smith Jr. questionable (right ankle sprain)
  • Wizards: Kristaps Porzingis out (left ankle sprain)

Washington’s injury report is from Tuesday’s game at Dallas. They will not be required to issue its report for Wednesday until only a few hours before tipoff, since it’s the tail end of a back-to-back.

Advice and prediction

Ever since Kevin Porter Jr. hurt his left foot Jan. 11, the emergence and higher usage of Sengun has become a key storyline.

Now, with Green scoring 40-plus points twice in his last three outings, including a career-high 42 on Monday versus Minnesota, an argument can clearly be made that the change in approach is helping to improve surrounding players, as well. Most notably, Sengun’s fellow second-year prospect from the 2021 first round.

Over seven games since Jan. 11, Green is averaging 28.2 points and 3.5 assists for the Rockets on 46.9% shooting and 38.6% on 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Sengun is averaging 19.4 points (67.9% FG), 10.6 rebounds, and 7.0 assists per game over that same period.

The most recent four games for the Rockets include Monday’s win and three losses by single digits. On the other side, Washington could have tired legs on night two of a road back-to-back. Let’s be optimistic.

Prediction: Rockets 116, Wizards 113
