World Cup captains want to wear rainbow armbands in Qatar
FIFA is under pressure from European soccer federations who want their captains to wear an armband with a rainbow heart design during World Cup games in Qatar to campaign against discrimination. France and Germany are among eight European teams going to Qatar. FIFA rules prohibit teams from bringing their own armpands to the World Cups and insist they must use equipment provided by the governing body. The Welsh soccer federation has submitted a request to FIFA to allow the arms to be worn throughout the tournament. The Emir of Qatar has promised a World cup without discrimination and has said that Qatari people will receive with open arms football fans from all walks of life.
