That Ascot run is hard to ignore and if he can deliver something similar here then he’s unlikely to be far away. All the time the price allows, he goes down as an each-way must for a trainer who likes Goodwood and is unlikely to leave this meeting without a winner.

At similar odds, Classic is another who simply must gone down as a solid each-way selection while the price allows. Richard Hannon’s lightly raced runner arrives here off the back of winning well in Class 3 company last time out, beating a smart rival by a cozy length. That smart rival was Novus, who yesterday went close in a big-field handicap at this meeting, so the form looks strong, that’s for sure.

What’s more, the colt’s most decisive previous victory came when he ran on soft ground over this trip at Newmarket last season, so today’s conditions ought to bring out the best in him. Looks nicely weighted and has plenty in favour, so don’t be surprised to see him go close.
