Yankees vs. Dodgers prediction: Bet on Domingo German, Bombers

It doesn’t get much bigger for a June baseball game than the Yankees and Dodgers nationally televised on ESPN, but that’s what we will be treated to Sunday night.

Domingo German (3-3, 3.98 ERA) gets the call for the Yankees and Bobby Miller (2-0, 1.64 ERA) takes the hill for the Dodgers.

German gave up seven hits and four runs to the Mariners in his previous start, but that poor outing hasn’t been the norm for the young right-hander.

German was returning from a 10-game suspension for using a foreign substance, and the layoff showed.

In his four prior starts, German gave up just four runs over 22 innings.

He has allowed two or fewer runs in six of 10 starts this season.

Miller, who will be making just his third career start, was strong in the first two, allowing just two runs over 11 innings in wins over the Braves and Nationals.

The rookie showed tremendous control in his first two outings, striking out nine and walking two.

The Yankees’ offense hasn’t quite lived up to the hype so far this season.

They entered Saturday ranked 11th in runs scored, but this is still a dangerous Yankees lineup.

Betting on Baseball?

I expect German to get back to his pre-suspension form, and if the Bronx Bombers can get to the inexperienced Miller early, I like their chances on the road.

I’ll side with the Yankees to close out their series in Los Angeles with a win.
