The first race of the Ebor Festival will be a thriller for sure, and the first selection in our York Lucky 15 tips on Thursday is RELIEF RALLY. William Haggas’ charge is having a great season so far and is seeking a fifth win in as many months on her York debut.

Relief Rally is currently the outright favourite, looking to make it four wins from five starts and back-to-back triumphs in the process. Runs off a mark of 9st 2lb – a weight she is suited too and has proved she can perform well off in the past.

Some encouraging wins at Windsor on debut, Salisbury, a strong second at Royal Ascot back in June and a win last time out at Newbury all point towards another strong showing from this two-year-old at York this time. Tom Marquand takes the reigns.

3:00pm – Clipper Stakes Heritage Handicap 1m ITV: THE GATEKEEPER @ 14/1

THE GATEKEEPER is the second selection in our York Lucky 15 Tips on Thursday after three solid runs to start his career. Jockey William Buick is the perfect rider for this horse, who have some very solid claims. He has ran two big races recently, and is two-pounds down after his strong second of 20 at Goodwood last time out.

Ideally less pace would suit and a better draw 13, but he is a horse that is more than capable of winning this race over the one-mile distance. So many horses to pick from here but The Gatekeeper certainly presents huge value to punters at 14/1 odds with the best horse racing betting sites.

He also fits the bill and ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to the trends and past winners of this race.

Next up on our Lucky 15 is Frankie Dettori’s first run of the day where he saddles FREE WIND. John & Thady Gosden’s mare was disappointing last time out at Glorious Goodwood – but that can be forgiven with the excuse of very testing ground that day.

The five-year-old who won the Group 2 Middleton Stakes here back in May, as she returns to a track she clearly enjoys with the ground set to be ideal. It is a tough race which is wide-open and there is obvious danger from the Irish Oaks 1-2 Savethelastdance and Bluestocking.

We know that the Gosden’s charge is a class act on her day and the daughter of Galileo is a great value bet in what is set to be an enthralling contest. Yard also has a solid record in this race having won it four times in the past.

4.10 – British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies and Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m4f ITV: SEA THEME @ 9/2

Completing our York Lucky 15 tips on Thursday is SEA THEME. This William Haggas-trained filly won impressively by three lengths last time out at Doncaster as an 11/4 favourite with the best horse racing betting apps.

Runs off a mark of 9st which is bottom weight in the field. Will have to once again improve on her step up to Class 1 company, but the Sheikh Juma Dalmook Al Maktoum owner 3-year-old has a real chance here of making it back-to-back wins.

Jockey Tom Marquand is once again given the ride here, a horse and jockey pairing that are familiar with each other and have won together before. Wide open race and a horse that fits the trends too. Has a real good chance here.
