Ys Delight circles field in last eighth of a mile

Ys Delight (Bettors Delight) went last-to-first in a powerful harness racing stretch drive to win the Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Monday (Mar. 13).

The stallion raced seventh through the first quarter of :28.4 and joined the outside flow while turning towards a :59.1 half. He gapped his cover in the third panel but caught the helmet as the field moved through three-quarters in 1:27.4.

Tyler Moore flung the stallion four-wide as they turned for home, leaving Ys Delight last at the top of the stretch. But the horse exploded on the straight, bridging the six lengths from top to bottom with a final late surge to score in 1:59.1.

He caught Prestige Seelster (Tyler Borth) by a neck. Harpers Hat Trick (Travis Henry) was also there in third.

YS DELIGHT REPLAY

The victory brought Ys Delight into the six-digit earnings club with a bankroll of $102,282. The six-year-old stallion has won 15 of his 57 career starts for owner/trainer Garry Macdonald of Dundas.

Tuesday’s (Mar. 14) card at The Raceway features a Preferred Trot. First post will be 5:50 p.m. EDT.
