Dolphins vs. Commanders line, odds and predictions: Our experts like Miami to beat Washington

Will the Miami Dolphins keep beating up on lesser teams when they visit the Washington Commanders on Sunday? The AFC East-leading Dolphins are still in play for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, while the Commanders eye potentially landing the first overall pick in next year’s draft. Washington is on a three-game losing streak and has lost five of its last six games. Miami is a big favorite.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at FedEx Field. The game will be televised on FOX.

Miami is one of the premier offenses in the NFL, thanks to a balanced attack. It ranks first in passing yards per game (285.3) and second in rushing yards per game (145.2). The Dolphins are one of only two teams averaging more than 30 points per game at 30.8. Dallas is the other at 31.5. The offense has been without electric rookie running back De’Von Achane for much of the season due to a knee injury and would add another weapon to Mike McDaniel’s offense if he can return.

Miami should find little resistance lighting up the scoreboard against Washington. The Commanders allow a league-worst 29.2 points per game and recently traded away first-round edge rushers Chase Young and Montez Sweat. Washington fired defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio after their blowout loss to the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

One of the few bright spots for the Commanders this season has been the play of second-year quarterback Sam Howell. He leads the NFL in passing yards with 3,339, has 18 passing touchdowns, and can do some damage on the ground, adding 222 yards and three touchdowns.

But Washington has had trouble keeping Howell upright, allowing the second-most sacks on the season with 55. That could spell disaster against the Dolphins, who have the third-most sacks in the league with 38. The Dolphins’ defense has dominated as of late, allowing just 16 points per game since the Week 8 return of cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
