legendary stayer Stradivarius is retired
Stradivarius has been retired to stud after a long and successful career. He won 20 of 35 starts over seven seasons for racecourse earnings of £3,458,968. His last start saw him lose by a neck to Kyprios in his bid for a fifth Goodwood Cup in July. He is a tribute to trainer John Gosden. Bjorn Nielsen watched him race all these years. It has also been a great thrill to watch him racing. The horse had never been medicated and had not missed an engagement through injury. They contemplated stopping him at the end of last season but he wanted to go again.
