Timeform preview and tips: Galway Monday highlights
HMS Seahorse is competing in the opening novice hurdle for four-year-olds at 17.10 in Galway. He was trained by Aidan O'Brien and his brother Armory. After joining Paul Nolan, he won a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse and finished fourth in Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival. Last month he ran away with the valuable Ragusa Handicap at Curragh.
Common Practice is the favourite for the Galway handicap for three-year-olds over a mile and a half at 19.50. The son of Gleneagles won the Apprentice Derby at the Curragh last month. He was driven by Dylan McMonagle.
The highlight of the first day of Galway Festival is the Connacht Hotel Handicap. Willie Mullins has six declared runners, plus one of reserves. Patrick partners Echoes In Rain. Farout is a stablemate of Patrick's. He won the novice hurdle on this card twelve months ago. Jody Townend will be in the saddle again.
