Tyreek Hill NFL Player Props, Odds Week 8: Predictions for Patriots vs. Dolphins

The high-scoring Miami Dolphins host the New England Patriots, and our Tyreek Hill NFL player prop predictions wonder whether sportsbooks are adjusting their lines based on an injury scare for the star wideout. All our NFL picks are based on the NFL odds from our best NFL prop betting sites.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s status was thrown into some doubt Wednesday when the veteran receiver missed practice due to a hip injury. Vague quotes from the Miami coaching staff on his readiness to play surfaced to raise some alarm bells.

While it appears to be just noise after the Cheetah returned to practice later in the week, we’re keeping his missed practice in mind as we approach his Week 8 player props.

Hill Under 93.5 receiving yards (-114 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although concern surrounding Tyreek Hill’s mysterious absence from practice seemed to fade away as quickly as it was introduced this week, we’ve got other reasons for being wary of the Cheetah’s receiving yardage total regarding this matchup.

After Hill torched Bill Belichick’s New England Patriot defense the first couple of times he faced it back in 2017 and 2018, the defensive guru has dialed up effective ways to limit the speedster ever since. Across his last five games against New England, Hill has cleared 65 receiving yards only once. Belichick has always found ways to stifle the strengths of opposing offenses, so it should be another day of tight coverage on Hill in this matchup.

Since we’re betting Under on this prop, we’re looking for the sportsbook with the highest yardage total. DraftKings lists Hill’s receiving total at 92.5, while BetMGM, bet365, and Caesars post the line at 91.5. With the line at 93.5 yards and -114 odds, FanDuel offers superior value on the Under for this prop compared to our other best sportsbooks.

Tyreek Hill Over 6.5 receptions (-140 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

As Belichick’s defenses have prevented Hill from performing game-breaking plays in recent years, they’ve also limited the Cheetah’s touches, in general. Only once over his past five games against New England has Hill exceeded the 6.5-receptions line posted across all of our best sportsbooks.

With the Dolphins at home, though, and the Patriots' defense showing slightly more vulnerabilities this season, we’re not sure we can expect Hill to fall short of seven receptions in this game. A full fade on Tyreek Hill is a dangerous place to live, so we’ll look to thread the needle on a day featuring plenty of opportunities but a lack of big-play explosiveness.

The value of the odds on Over 6.5 receptions at BetMGM (-145) and FanDuel (-148) is not as strong as the -140 odds at both DraftKings and bet365.

Race to 20+ receiving yards: Tyreek Hill (+200 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Although it might seem counterintuitive to expect a hot start for Hill in receiving yards while also anticipating an overall disappointment on the day, the Dolphins will inevitably aim to involve Hill in the game plan early.

Because of the idea that New England will limit splash plays for the Cheetah, we may need to see multiple early targets to get him quickly across the 20-yard plateau. Hill, though, is by far the most prominent receiver in this game. His team may not even need to receive the ball on the opening kickoff to give him a genuine crack at cashing this prop.

That’s because Patriots quarterback Mac Jones spreads the ball around due to New England’s lack of a true No. 1 wideout. He’s also maxed out at 201 passing yards in road games this season, so an efficient opening drive that sees a Patriot clear 20 receiving yards would surprise us. The juicy +200 odds at DraftKings make this an interesting gamble on Hill’s early involvement.
