XFL Championship Odds 2023: Renegades the Favorites

The XFL's highly-anticipated return begins with a matchup between the Vegas Vipers and Arlington Renegades on Saturday, Feb. 18. Below, we look at the favorites, contenders, and long shots to win the 2023 XFL Championship based on the odds from our best sportsbooks.

It’ll take 40 regular-season games, two semifinal playoff matchups and a championship finale until we’ll know who the second-ever XFL champion is, but bettors can already begin searching for the best betting odds available.

While the Arlington Renegades and decorated head coach Bob Stoops are the betting favorites this season, odds are tight across the board because of uncertainty surrounding the league's restart after operations ceased in May 2020.

There’s added promise this time around with the XFL announcing every game will be televised across a combination of ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and FX. Each contest will also be streamed on ESPN+ and simulcasted in 142 countries around the world.

Here is our preview of the 2023 XFL Championship's best odds, along with a look at some potential picks (odds via our best sportsbooks).

XFL Championship odds 2023

XFL Championship odds 2023: Favorites

Arlington Renegades (+500 via DraftKings)

Head coach Stoops won 191 college games leading the Oklahoma Sooners and was the AP Coach of the Year in 2000. Arlington has a sound quarterback duo with Drew Plitt and Kyle Sloter, and safeties Will Hill, Rahim Moore and T.J. Green all have NFL experience.

St. Louis BattleHawks (+500 via bet365)

St. Louis has the most accomplished quarterback in the league. A.J. McCarron led the Alabama Crimson Tide to consecutive National Championships in 2012 and 2013 before spending six seasons in the NFL and making four career starts. On the flip side, head coach Anthony Becht hardly has any coaching experience to speak of.

San Antonio Brahmas (+550 via PointsBet)

The Brahmas have a pair of athletic quarterbacks in Jawon Pass and Anthony Russo, and what head coach Hines Ward lacks in experience, offensive coordinator Jaime Elizondo makes up for, with 25 years on the sidelines. Running back Kalen Ballage also flashed potential during a four-year NFL stint.

XFL Championship odds 2023: Contenders

Seattle Sea Dragons (+550 via PointsBet)

Projected No. 1 QB Ben DiNucci has a splash of NFL experience, and veteran head coach Jim Haslett looks for offensive coordinator June Jones to push the ball downfield. Seattle also landed one of the few offensive linemen with notable starting experience at the highest level. Julie'n Davenport made 32 starts during his five-year NFL stay. Wide receiver Josh Gordon has an All-Pro season on his resume, too.

Vegas Vipers (+650 via bet365)

The Vipers have a number of familiar names, beginning with head coach Rod Woodson. Add former NFL edge rusher Vic Beasley, wide receiver Martavis Bryant and running back Matt Jones, and Woodson’s goals for the Vipers to both entertain and compete are well within reach.

XFL Championship odds 2023: Long shots

D.C. Defenders (+700 via bet365)

The Defenders have a proven quarterback in Jordan Ta’amu. He paced the XFL in completion percentage and rushing yards in 2020, and led the USFL in passing yards and touchdowns in 2022. The rushing attack should be sound given running back Ryquell Armstead’s NFL experience and Abram Smith’s standout play during his final season at Baylor.

Houston Roughnecks (+750 via DraftKings)

Head coach Wade Phillips took his first sideline job in 1976, which can be spun positively or negatively. The roster isn’t overflowing with recognizable names, either. Wide receiver Deontay Burnett and linebacker Diego Fagot had strong college careers, but the QB position offers limited upside. Both Brandon Silvers and Kaleb Eleby lack game-breaking athleticism.

Orlando Guardians (+800 via bet365)

The Guardians' long odds align with this being Terrell Buckley’s first head coaching job. The roster isn’t void of talent, though. Florida native Deondre Francois flashed upside behind center at Florida State, and former NFL wide receiver Cody Latimer joins him on offense. Safety Matt Elam was a first-round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft and played three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, too.
